So game 1 of the UAAP finals start tomorrow, October 2, 2013. De La Salle University will be facing off against long-time rivals — aside from Ateneo of course — University of Santo Tomas.
Definitely the main story line of this series will be the battle between the Teng brothers, Jeron and Jeric. Aside from the Teng brothers, another story line worth noting are the coaches of their respective teams. The stoic rookie — in the men’s senior division that is — coach Juno Sauler facing off against the man who won the UAAP Men’s BB crown in his 1st year, Pido Jarencio.
Aside from the story lines, this will indeed be a battle between the two most well-balanced sides in the league. They have a core of game changers while also having a very deep bench.
DLSU is riding a 9 game winning sreak while UST is starting to show their true colors after ousting Ateneo and NU. My prediction will be simple, whoever wins game 1, I think, can close the series out on Saturday. I’m not saying that the possibility of a game 3 is not there, but whoever wins game 1 has all the momentum in the world going for them.
I end this entry with a simple message to the boys from Taft: Bring back the crown to the green and white.
